General symptoms to take seriously

  • Unexplained weight loss

  • Persistent fatigue

  • Unexplained bleeding

  • A lump or thickening that persists

  • A cough or hoarseness that doesn’t improve

When to seek medical advice

  • Symptoms lasting more than 2–3 weeks

  • Symptoms that worsen over time

  • New symptoms with a strong family history

  • Anything that feels urgent or severe
